Overview

If I had to choose a true passion project, it would be this one – a simple, elegant ergonomic mouse. It goes back to 2015, at the very beginning of my bachelor’s studies, and I’ve returned to it several times since then, making it an important part of my portfolio.

The Challenge

In 2015, the options were usually split between standard flat mice and fully vertical ergonomic tools. I aimed to strike a balance between the two. The challenge was to sculpt a semi-vertical form that feels natural to the hand and relieves wrist tension, while keeping the precision we all rely on. My goal was simply to design a clean, comfortable companion for the modern workspace.

The Solution

Driven by initial ergonomic research, I used sketches and clay modeling to define the core gesture. I then transitioned to 3D to rigorously refine the volumes and ensure perfect surface continuity. The resulting semi-vertical form promotes a neutral 'handshake' position. Key features include a distinct floating button section and a ribbed thumb rest, balancing smooth geometry with a tactile structural anchor.

The Result

The final outcome is a sophisticated peripheral that blends executive aesthetics with ergonomic utility. While this semi-vertical form factor is now a widely accepted solution, it was a novel approach at the time of its creation in 2015. Seeing the industry shift in this direction confirms the validity of the initial concept. Today, the design stands as a testament to logical problem-solving, remaining visually and functionally relevant.
